    Welcome!

Welcome to WGA 6th grade science! I'm so excited to have the opportunity to teach and build relationships with you and your child. I know the challenges and joys of parenting gifted children. When my son tested as “gifted” I had no idea what that meant. I learned as he grew and matriculated under the expert guidance of his gifted teachers. His place at KGA from its inception also built the foundation of my experiences living with and teaching gifted students. I am delighted to be teaming with my fellow educators and parents to provide a safe, invigorating, student-centered and positive classroom experience for your student. When I’m not teaching, I'm presenting workshops at ASU and ASTA. Summers are spent presenting STEM Based camps through ASU and hosting two Phoenix Fan Fusion panels every year with former students.
I love to kayak, go birding, train my dog, camp, and care for my menagerie of rescued reptiles.

    My Education and Professional Background

Having worked in Human Resources in the construction and mining industry, and staying home to raise my, then younger, children. I decided to plunge in and follow my life-long dream of being a teacher. I pursued a Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education with a S.T.E.M. focus, later earning an Environmental Education Certificate via the AAEE and my Gifted Endorsement. I am Highly Qualified in Science and a graduate of Honeywell Educators Space Academy. I began my second career teaching gifted, middle school students multiple content areas of science.

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe kids want to learn; they are natural questioners and experimenters. I utilize a variety of best teaching practices and methods of classroom management; high expectations, differentiation, student centered teaching, teamwork and knowing my student's individual needs form my classroom instruction. My primary goal is to build a community that empowers your student to explore the world around them through wonder, questioning and experimenting - to analyze content and seek solutions to challenges that build resilience, character, and confidence while reflecting on the process.
