    Welcome!

    Welcome to third grade! I am so excited to be joining the 3rd grade team at WGA this year!I look forward to a great school year - together we will make incredible growth as we explore, problem solve, and engage in meaningful ways within our classroom learning environment.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Southern Nazarene University and my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. The 2023-2024 school year will be my 16th year teaching. Nine years of my career have been spent teaching 6th grade, two years were spent teaching 2nd grade in a virtual environment, and I have spent the last three years in 5th grade. I look forward to expanding my elementary experience this upcoming year as I transition to teaching third graders - I hear they are AWESOME!

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe the role of an educator extends beyond teaching math facts and grammatical structures. It is my goal to provide students with opportunities to grow socially and emotionally, in addition to the academic growth they will make throughout the year. Just as all learners are unique, I recognize that there is no "one size fits all" in education. I have had the privilege of teaching in the traditional model for several years, and I look forward to fully immersing myself in a model that focuses on inquiry-based learning. I firmly believe that students CAN and WILL "rise to the occasion". I strive each year to set the bar high for students and then create an atmosphere in which we work together to see everyone achieve success.
