My Educational Philosophy

As your child’s teacher I will constantly change, evolve, and learn. Since society is constantly evolving, so must I. I believe that students should experience different perspectives. I will strive to make the environment of my classroom mirror a community, with students being productive members. I expect students to have self-respect, respect of others, and collaborative skills. I believe that teachers are not only present to help students through the state standards, but also to help them through the challenges of growing up, working through social and emotional skills of what it takes to be a child, friend, sibling, and member of the world. I believe that personal stories should be valued and students who are making life connections to the lessons taught are a lot more likely to understand and remember the material.
