• Hancock Elementary is proud to offer many before and after-school opportunities for academic and extra-curricular exploration through these clubs and activities:

    Student Council
The Hancock Student Council includes members from the 4th - 6th grade. Each grade has 2 class representatives that inform their class about student council-sponsored events, spirit days, and fundraisers.
Hancock encourages students to participate in a number of tutoring programs on campus.

    Math and Science Club
Hancock Elementary has partnered with college students from the American Medical Student Association at ASU to form a Science Club.  The ASU students come for six weeks and work together to perform science experiments, games, and activities with 3-4 grade students at Hancock.   The 50 Hancock students are very excited each week to interact and learn from the ASU students.  The goal of the club is to engage children from an early age in S.T.E.M. activities and build an excitement for science.

    Kindness Club
Kindness Club is a student club for grades 4-6. Student representatives are selected within the classroom. Kindness Club members meet monthly to review "kind acts" nominations and select winners for each month. At monthly assemblies, Kindness Club members honor the kind acts with a PowerPoint presentation of the student's picture and reason for the kind act as well as giving each student a "Caught You Being Kind" t-shirt.

Young Rembrandts teaches basic drawing skills, art techniques and vocabulary. We provide all materials and teach new lessons each week in a positive and nurturing environment, which brings out the best in each child. You’ll see increased art abilities, learning skills, self-confidence and self-esteem. Cartooning takes drawing to another level by teaching students how to put excitement and movement on paper.

    Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books Club is open to 5th and 6th grade students at the beginning of each school year.  In this fun district-wide club, teams of students read designated books and compete in book battles to answer questions about the books they read.

Harmony Chorus The Hancock Heat Harmony Chorus meets on Tuesday Mornings before school at 7:45 am from October 24th - February 27th. All 4th, 5th and 6th grade students at Hancock are invited to join us. Performances include an evening concert in the spring and a field trip to the CUSD Annual Choral Festival at the Chandler Center for the Arts in February.

    Running Club
Running Club has been organized to promote fitness and encourage sportsmanship and positive mental attitude. We will be teaching basic techniques, skills, and strategies of running. We will also stress important values, such as dedication, commitment, and perseverance. The students will participate in different running activities and games. The club will also participate in several races against other Chandler schools. Having fun, trying your best, and good sportsmanship are stressed at all times. The Hancock Running Club is open to any student in Kindergarten through 6th grade.

    Garden Club
The Garden Club is a Science Club at Hancock that provides an opportunity for 5th and 6th Grade students to design, plant, and then maintain a real vegetable and flower garden right here at Hancock!  Students will learn about soil preparation, plant selection, seed planting and germination, garden maintenance and garden-related ecology (conservation and protection of the environment).

    Robotics Club
The Hancock Robotics Club provides an opportunity for 5th and 6th grade students to learn about building with VEX IQ robotics. Students that join the club will learn how to build, drive, and code their robot through the yearly competition. The club is run through Chandler's Community Education department.

    Media Club
The Hancock Media Club is for our 5th and 6th grade students interested in filming and editing our weekly video announcements. Students that join the club have a choice to be a newscaster, which involves creating their script and then recording the segment, or being on the editing team, which uses iMovie to edit and assemble the final product. The club is run through Chandler's Community Education department during the 1st and 2nd semester of the school year. (2 sessions)
