    My Education and Professional Background

    I have been an educator since 1998, when I received my master's degree in Education. I have taught several elementary grade levels across the years, including many years in 4th grade as well as 2nd and online at Chandler Online Academy. I love STEM and I was fortunate to be able to departmentalize, focusing on teaching  math or math and science subjects exclusively for many years.

    My Educational Philosophy

    I use strategies that encourage problems solving and understanding concepts rather than solely relying on memorization of steps. If kids understand how numbers work, they are able to solve problems that haven't been "taught". "Try" is the focus in my classroom. We learn from our mistakes, as long as we continue to TRY.
