• Welcome to Visual Arts at WGA!

All students at WGA K-6 receive fine arts instruction each week for 40 minutes.  Students attend art classes in our art hub, room 21 & 22, a double room specifically designed for WGA, complete with electric clay wheels, styrofoam cutters, cricut, sewing center and an industrial air filter.   Our kiln is located on campus and is separate from the art hub.

What will we be learning about in Visual Arts?

We will be working with various mediums, including clay, charcoal, pastels, printing ink, fiber, found objects and different types of paint. Scaffolding on skills each year, students develop their talents to create unique works of art autonomously and build confidence along the way.  Various styles of art, art history and artists will be interwoven with lessons which will identify and use the elements and principles of art and design.  Students will learn the vocabulary of the discipline encouraging discourse about various aspects of visual arts.
