| In 2011-2012, Hancock was, once again, awarded a grant by the Arizona Commission on the Arts to continue our popular Artist in Residence Program in Spring 2012. Eileen Morgan, an expert in Japanese Taiko Drumming, was the artist. The residency began on April 13 with an exciting opening assembly for the entire school at 2:00 PM. This assembly featured our artist, "Morgan Sensei", and the Professional Japanese Taiko Drumming group, Fushicho Daiko. Click here for pictures and video of this amazing performing group! Then, beginning on Monday, April 23rd, Morgan Sensei led sessions in the art of Japanese Taiko Drumming with every class at Hancock. The 3rd grade was the focus grade and presented a culminating performance on Thursday, May 17th at 6:00 PM. It was an amazing experience and one the students of Hancock will never forget. Thank you, Morgan Sensei! |
