Noa Joffe, 5th Grade Weinberg Gifted Academy, has been growing her hair and wearing it long for many years. When she was thinking of cutting her hair, her mom mentioned she could take a little more off (10 inches in all) and donate it to Locks of Love. They are a non-profit that make wigs for children who don't have hair. Though Noa misses her long hair, she knows there are children who don't have any and would appreciate the donation. She hopes to inspire other kids to do the same.

Congratulations to Weinberg Gifted Academy's Battle of the Books team for taking third place in the district finale hosted by Chandler Public Library in April. This year, 231 teams with approximately 700 students participated in the Battle of the Books program. Thirty-three schools completed in the district semifinals, the top nine schools competed for the top three spots that move on the regionals. These four teams all scored a perfect score and earned their spots in tie-breaker rounds. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to one another, the program, and their love of reading.

Students in grades 4-6 were present, and grades K-3 watched in their classrooms via a Google Meet. The campus is adorned with student-created work thanking our first responders, considering how America has thrived since 9/11/2001, and honoring those who lost their lives that day.
