    Welcome!

Welcome! Over the course of the year we will be building scientific investigation skills and using these skills as we explore our view of the matter, how it behaves and the role of energy in chemical systems.

    My Education and Professional Background

My undergraduate degree was a B.S. in Biology from Northern Arizona University with a minor in chemistry. I worked as a biologist for the Arizona Department of Agriculture for a few years and then decided to pursue a post-baccalaureate degree in Science Education. Then I obtained my masters in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix. I have taught Honors and AP Chemistry since 2000. I have also taken graduate hours in chemistry so that I may teach Dual Enrollment for both Honors and AP Chemistry.

    My Educational Philosophy

Life is a series of learning events. As part of this series of events, a quality public education allows students to interconnect socially as well as academically. Humans are naturally curious, so they benefit from and enjoy discussing, watching, and experimenting with scientific principles. As a teacher, I look to examine and expel misconceptions that people might have about chemistry. When basic knowledge can be applied in the classroom setting the learning experience for students becomes deeper and more personal.
