Welcome!

Welcome to 10th grade English at Basha High School! Teaching is one of the most rewarding jobs a person can have. There is nothing more satisfying than empowering students with the skills and resources to succeed within the classroom and beyond. I look forward to creating a positive and productive learning environment with all of my students.

My Education and Professional Background

Originally from Washington, I was born and raised in a small town about 60 miles north of Seattle (Mount Vernon). I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies at Portland State University in Oregon. I attended college on a softball and academic scholarship and recognize the importance of both academic and extracurricular activities. After graduating college, I moved to Arizona and earned a Master's degree in Secondary Education at Arizona State University. I started my teaching

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that with the right amount of support and encouragement, every student can be successful. As a teacher, I promise to make every decision based on what is best for students. My goal each year is to help encourage and support all my students to become stronger readers, writers, and thinkers by the end of the school year. We will accomplish this through intentional lessons focused on our 10th grade College & Career Readiness Standards (Reading, Writing, Language, and Speaking & Listening)
