    Purpose

The primary mission of the NHSDA is to promote and honor outstanding dance achievement and to encourage well-rounded dance artists to become leaders in their communities after high school graduation.

    Qualifications for Membership

Membership is based on interest to induct into the NHSDA by the end of student's senior year. Requirements for induction into the national chapter will not inhibit student membership into the NHSDA club. All Basha dance students are welcome to join.

    Benefits

Student induction into the NHSDA is awarded on the basis of points earned for meritorious work in dance. Other factors may include the following:

    *Dance class grade point average

    *Cooperative teamwork

    *Motivation

    *Outreach

    *Choreography

    *Performance

    *Teaching

    *Production

    Inductees receive:

    A Certificate of Membership

Added prestige in scholarship applications and future resumes

Wear NHSDA honor cords and gold honor pins during graduation ceremonies

    Acknowledged on BHS concert programs

Are eligible to apply for the NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award.

    Eligibility for Induction:

Student induction into the NHSDA is awarded on the basis of points earned for meritorious work in dance that meets the honor society's general guidelines and, when appropriate, on the basis of dance class grade point average (GPA). In addition, the prospective inductee's demonstration of collaborative teamwork, motivation, and participation in the many aspects of dance (e.g., choreography, performance, teaching, production) is a factor in the determination of eligibility for membership.

What does a perspectives club do?

The NHSDA Perspectives meet to support one another, check on progress of application, create community service opportunities, develop leadership opportunities, and support the dance program's academic qualifications.

You do not need to be a perspectives club member to induct into the NHSDA at Basha High School. The club is a support and communication system for dancers interested in inducting by their senior year.
