Outline of classes/Grading Policy:
Each of the courses I teach are designed to address the IEP goals of students who participate in the alternative assessment. Grades are based on 80% classwork, 20% final. Students may see me before or after school for additional help/tutoring.
Late Work/Absences: Students are allowed up to 3 exemptions of daily work per semester (not including tests, quizzes, projects), for any reason. Any assignments not turned in after that will result in a 0 until they are turned in. If the student is excused from their absence, they will be given until the end of the week to make up the assignment without penalty. Work turned in late will be assessed a 1 point penalty, or approximately 10%-20% of the assignment's total.

Materials Needed:
Students need to bring pencils. I will supply all other materials needed for these classes.
Homework:
Most homework requires the student to finish what was started in class.
Food/Drink/Gum policy:
Only clear bottles of water are allowed inside the classroom No food or gum is allowed inside the classroom unless there is a stated dietary/medical need.
Phones/Ipods/Games:
Phones need to be shut off BEFORE the bell rings and must stay off during class. If a student is texting or using their phone without permission in class it will be taken away and turned into the office. If a student needs to text or call a parent, they need to ask me first, otherwise, I will assume they using their phone inappropriately and you will be notified by email or phone.
Students are NOT allowed to plug their devices into a computer or wall socket in order to charge their device. They can charge their phones at home or bring a portable charger and keep it in their bag.
Tardiness and Absences:
A student is considered tardy if they are not in the classroom when the bell rings. On the 5th tardy parents will be notified. On the 10th tardy the student will be referred to administration.
Students late to 1st hour will need to get a pass from the attendance office before being let into class.
Students who miss more than 9 days of school during a semester may be dropped from school.
Restroom:
Students need to ask for a disposable pass in order to be out of the class. There are separate passes for the restroom and everywhere else. When using the restroom, the student should not be out of the class for an unreasonable amount of time. If this occurs regularly, or the student is asking to use the restroom every period and does not have a medical reason to do so, the parents will be notified.
Conduct:
Students will respect themselves and each other in my classroom and in the hallways. Students will use appropriate language and come prepared to class. Students will not sleep or rest their heads in class. Any behavior that escalates will be referred to the appropriate administrator.
