    Dear Researchers,
Below you will find instructions for your summer assignment for research.  Read all instructions very carefully and please email me if you have any questions.

    1)  Find three internet articles on a topic of your choice.  Read, highlight and annotate these articles.  Your goal with this step is to find something you are very interested in studying.

    2)  Once you have found a topic that is compelling, find three journal articles (from peer edited journals) on that topic.  These should also be printed, annotated, highlighted.  In addition, these articles need to be summarized.  When summarizing, be sure to identify the IV/DV, variations of IV if applicable.  Also point out why this research was important and what holes remain in the research.

While researching, choose articles that inform you about your field and what others are doing in your field.
One easy way to do this would to find a review (usually discusses the findings of many different studies) and use articles discussed in this review.
    example of a review:
    Review on Human-Computer Interaction: http://pami.uwaterloo.ca/pub/malemzad/HCI-Overview.pdf
    Review on Alzheimer's Disease: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0092867405001522
You do not have to use a review, but they can be very helpful.

    3) Place all of your articles and summaries in a three inch three ring binder and bring them to school with you.  You will also need 10 tabs.

    4) When this is done, you should be well on your way to choosing a topic, be prepared to discuss this the first week of school.
    Have a great summer!!!
