Two Hamilton/ACP Air Force Junior ROTC cadets were recently selected for the Air Force Chief of Staff Private Pilot Scholarship Program. Hamilton junior, Dylan Franklin and ACP High School junior, Haley Hughes were identified in the announcement from Headquarters Air Force JROTC. The program, also known as the "AFJROTC Flight Academy," is an Air Force initiative in collaboration with the commercial aviation industry to address a national pilot shortage. Cadets Franklin and Hughes will receive comprehensive, FAA-certified ground instruction and over 40 hours of flight instruction, giving each student the opportunity to earn an FAA Private Pilot Certificate (private pilot license), with no commitment to military service required or implied.

Hamilton senior and AFJROTC cadet Landry Howard was recently announced as one of 100 world-wide recipients (from a pool of over 12,000 AFJROTC senior cadets) of a 4-year Air Force ROTC scholarship to the university of her choice. The J-100 AFJROTC Character-in-Leadership Scholarship, or “J-100” for short, provides benefits including tuition, on-campus housing, books, and a monthly stipend. The J-100 focuses on character, leadership, citizenship, and diversity, and inspires future leaders to seek careers in the US Air Force. According to Hamilton’s Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, Lt Col Greg Franklin: “With such a large pool of high-quality candidates, the competition for the limited number of J100 scholarships was tremendous. Cadet Howard has excelled at Hamilton, demonstrating outstanding academic ability and building impressive leadership credentials through STUGO, Swim Team, NHS, various clubs, work experience, and AFJROTC. She is the epitome of the well-rounded student and will be a true asset to our Air Force officer corps and our nation.”
