COURSE DESCRIPTION
Graphic Design I is a year-long, project-based course that develops career and communication skills in the design and production of graphic media.
While being done virtually students will develop a deeper understanding of Graphic Design and utilizing the Google Suite. Instruction will be done synchronously and asynchronously.
Upon completion of this course students will have an understanding of Adobe Creative Suite Programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign (pending access to the Hamilton Computer Lab). Students will be able to successfully utilize these programs to create well thought out design based projects and websites.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- A two pocket folder specifically for this class to store class handouts, assignments, and rubrics
- $25.00 lab fee (pay at the bookstore)
This fee provides all the paper, ink, and other art materials required for this course.
- USB Drive for file storage is recommended
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
In addition to all Hamilton High School expectations, the following expectations apply at all times:
- Show RESPECT for yourself and others, as well as personal and school property.
* This means treat others (and their property) as you would like to be treated.
* Maintain personal control in all situations.
- Be PREPARED with all classroom materials and arrive ON TIME.
* This is a career ready class and professionalism will be expected
- Be APPROPRIATE in your language and your dress.
* This means NO profanity, and NO racial, cultural, sexual, or religious slurs.
* The Hamilton High dress code will be adhered to at all times.
- Be ATTENTIVE and PARTICIPATE in classroom activities.
* All electronic devices should be turned off and stowed during class. I don’t want to see them out. No music devices or headphones are allowed, this includes charging of cell phones as well.
* No food or beverages are allowed in the computer lab.

Attendance is based on engagement. If a student is not present for synchronous instruction and does not complete the asynchronous/alternative assignment for the daily class meeting, then the student is considered absent. Teachers will contact attendance clerks once a student is determined to be absent.DISCIPLINE POLICY
1st offense - Polite reminder of classroom expectations
2nd offense - Conference with me and phone call home
3rd offense - ISS and/or referral to appropriate administrator as well as phone call home
GRADES
Will be calculated using a total points system for 90% of the grade and 10% of the grade will be determined from the Final Exam.
Scale: 90-100% A 80-89.9% B 70-79.9% C 60-69.9% D below 59.9% Failing
