Course Description
Graphic Design and Web Design II is the prerequisite for Graphic Design and Web Production III. Graphic Design and Web Production III is a project-based course concentrating on career and communication skills in graphic and multimedia technology. Media Design and Technology courses at Hamilton HS attempt to address relatively new technology affecting the design area of the state’s Communication Media Technologies Program. Graphic Design and Web Production III will require a high level of design ability while allowing the student to specialize in media areas based on their job or future education objectives.
Supplies needed:
1. A two pocket folder specifically for this class to store class handouts, assignments, and rubrics
2. $25.00 lab fee (pay at the bookstore)
This fee provides all the paper, ink, and other art materials required for this course.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
In addition to all Hamilton High School expectations, the following expectations apply at all times:
1. Show RESPECT for yourself and others, as well as personal and school property.
* This means treat others (and their property) as you would like to be treated.
* Maintain personal control in all situations.
2. Be PREPARED with all classroom materials and arrive ON TIME.
* This is a career ready class and professionalism will be expected
3. Be APPROPRIATE in your language and your dress.
* This means NO profanity, and NO racial, cultural, sexual, or religious slurs.
* The Hamilton High dress code will be adhered to at all times.
4. Be ATTENTIVE and PARTICIPATE in classroom activities.
* All electronic devices should be turned off and stowed during class. I don’t want to see them out. No music devices or headphones are allowed, this includes charging of cell phones as well.
* No food or beverages are allowed in the computer lab.
ATTENDANCE AND TARDY POLICY
Students are expected to show up consistently and show up on time. Attendance will be taken when the bell rings and class instruction will begin immediately. A majority of the work will need to be completed in class as it is imperative that students have a strong attendance record for academic success.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
1st offense - Polite reminder of classroom expectations during class
2nd offense - Conference with me after class and phone call home
3rd offense - Detention and/or referral to appropriate administrator as well as phone call home
GRADES
Will be calculated using a total points system for 80% of the grade and 20% of the grade will be determined from the Final Exam.
Scale: 90-100% A 80-89.9% B 70-79.9% C 60-69.9% D below 59.9% Failing
OPEN LAB
Students will be able to access the lab outside of the school hours unless noted. Students will still need to adhere to the lab policies and all visitors will also need to follow these policies.
Before school: 6:45am- 7:20am
After school: 2:30pm- 3:30pm
