Welcome!
I am very excited to be the Dean of Students at Payne Junior High School for the 2022-2023 school-year! As the Dean of Students, I will proudly oversee 7th grade academics and discipline, 7th and 8th grade student activities, and 7th and 8th grade clubs. I’m looking forward to a fun and fabulous year of student learning, growth and positivity.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated with honors from Northern Arizona University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in History, with a minor in Art History/Humanities. I went on to complete my graduate studies and teaching certification program at Arizona State University, where I received my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in secondary American Studies. I completed my student teaching in Chandler and the rest is history!
I’ve taught 7th and 8th grade ELA and Social Studies, as well as High School Advanced Placement World History and United States/AZ History. I completed my previous year as an educator at Casteel High School.
In 2019, I received an additional M.Ed. in Educational Leadership to pursue one of my goals of becoming a site administrator. I am proud to say that I have been in the Chandler Unified School District for 25 years and I am currently the Dean of Students at Payne Junior High School.
My Educational Philosophy
As an Educator and Dean of Students, I adhere to the belief that all students should experience a wide range of learning experiences with the goal of becoming a life-long learner. There should be a balance of cooperative and individual/competitive learning experiences, academic and social/service-minded education, relevant and memorable curriculum, and encouragement from teachers and staff to become critical and creative thinkers. Our students today will participate in a world that we can only imagine. We live in an ever-changing information-based and high-technology economy. To compete in this rapidly changing world, we must construct learning environments capable of turning out students with problem-solving, communication and social skills. Educators are here to help empower students to be the best they can be, each and every day!
