-
How long is the cheer season?
Posted by:Cheerleading at Payne is a three-quarter/season commitment (1st-3rd quarter). Cheerleaders are not allowed to participate in any other team sports during the cheer season.
-
When and where are cheer practices?
Posted by:Cheer practice is held TWO days a week from 4 PM to 5:30 PM in the cafeteria. Practice days will be Mondays and Wednesdays, in addition to game days. Additional practices may be added depending on when our scheduled games are. This is the coach's decision, all changes will be communicated and shared through the team's calendar.Attendance is VERY important in cheerleading. ALL cheerleaders participate in every routine, so if someone is absent, the whole team suffers. Cheerleaders who have unexcused absences or frequent absences will be dealt with on a case by case basis, but removal from the squad is a possible consequence.

What are the costs associated with being a Payne cheerleader?
Posted by:Cheerleaders will be responsible for the cost of cheer shoes, spanx, liner, hair bows, bag, warm up, and practice gear. These items will be ordered after the team has been selected. Cheerleaders are responsible for purchasing white no-show socks on their own. Uniforms and poms are provided by the school and must be returned. Additional costs may occur during the season depending on the performance schedule. The price sheet is provided in the tryout packet. Consider utilizing the TAX Credit as a way to pay for your athlete's expenses.
Cost should never be a reason someone does not participate. We will fundraise throughout the season to make sure all members that make the squad can participate. Please reach out to the coach directly with any concerns.
-
Is the cheer squad competitive?
Posted by:Yes, the goal for the 22-23 year is to compete in at least one in-state competition. In addition to local showcases and school/game performances.
-
Are there academic obligations for cheerleading?
Posted by:Yes. The district policy states that all cheerleaders/athletes must maintain a ‘D’ average or higher in all classes. A coach has the authority to require higher standards to participate in performances. Cheerleaders are expected to maintain a 'C' average to participate in games, competition, and performances.
If a cheerleader has a D or lower in a class, they will be responsible for attending Homework Hub twice a week until the grade improves.
