Realistic Fiction (REAL): These are fictional books that could happen to real people in real settings. They usually are set during the same time period as the reader, and deal with issues that are important to the time period.
Humor (HUM): These are fictional books that are funny and lighthearted. They usually have characters that end up in humorous situations will dealing with real life problems.
Love and Friendship (L&F): These fictional books deal with romantic relationships and friendship. They can be set in any time period, but the focus of the story is on the relationships between the characters.
Science Fiction (SCI FI): These fictional books deal with imaginative concepts such as futuristic science and technology, space travel, time travel, parallel universes and extraterrestrial life. Science fiction often explores the potential consequences of scientific and other innovations
Paranormal (PARA): These fictional books are usually set in modern or present time period. They have stories that involve a specific type of supernatural creatures such as: vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and angles. They can often include a romantic component as part of the story.
Fantasy (FANT): These fictional books use magic or other supernatural elements as a main plot element, theme, or setting. Many works within the genre take place in imaginary worlds where magic and magical creatures are common.
Horror (HOR): These fictional books are written to frighten, scare, disgust, or startle their readers or viewers by inducing feelings of horror and terror.
Mystery (MYS): These fictional books usually involve a mysterious death or a crime to be solved. They can take place in a variety of time periods and settings.
Historical Fiction (HIS): These are books in which a story is made up but is set in the past and sometimes borrows true characteristics of the time period in which it is set.
Adventure (ADV): These fictional books are dominated by action, and involve danger, risk and excitement. They are usually fast paced and often are set in exotic and distant, but real places, like Mount Everest.
Sports Fiction (SPOR): These are fictional books where a sport has in impact on the plot or main character. Often the main character is influenced by playing the sport, his team and coaches
Classics (CLA): This literature is widely acknowledged as having outstanding or enduring qualities. Often classics are books that even though they may have been written many years ago they speak to a universal human truth or theme such as jealousy.
