My Educational Philosophy

When I first decided to pursue education, two of my high school teachers stuck out to me. My biology teacher designed rigorous coursework, but her class helped me to learn important study strategies and made me a better student. My chemistry teacher fostered my enjoyment in chemistry through his lively, engaging teaching style. These two teachers made a significant impact on my life and I hope that I can emulate those qualities for my students!

I intend to create a safe, welcoming classroom environment that challenges students as they are learning the fundamental concepts of science, but where they feel secure in being authentically themselves. I will implement universal design and differentiation strategies to help all of my learners reach success. My goal is for students to leave my classroom with scientific knowledge, but more importantly, beneficial 21st century skills and kind, honest dispositions. I believe that the goal of education is not just to teach content, but to also teach skills and manners of thinking that all students can apply in the world beyond the classroom.
