Welcome!
Welcome to Casteel High School! My name is Ryan Meyn, and I teach World History and Geography. I am the Varsity Men's Volleyball Coach and my Casteel teams have won 2 5A State Championships in 2021 and 2023. I also Coach 2 Men's Volleyball Academy classes.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from ASU in 1999 with a BA in Elementary Education. I have taught and coached volleyball for over 20+ years. I was born in New York but I have spent most of my life in Arizona. My wife is a teacher at Riggs Elementary, and we have 2 boys. I love to play volleyball (sand and indoor), golf, and I also enjoy surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding.
My Educational Philosophy
1. Be an Effective Teacher! The three characteristics of an Effective Teacher are: have good classroom management skills, teach for mastery, and have positive expectations for student success. 2. Your expectations of your students will greatly influence their achievement in your class and in their lives. 3. All students can and will succeed, no exceptions. My Education Philosophy is based on Harry K. Wong’s book The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher.
