My Education and Professional Background

I received a BA in Studio Art and Art Education from Rosemont College located outside Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. I've also studied Studio Art and Art History at The American University of Paris and Parsons School of Design Paris. I began my career working as an Art Cataloger at Princeton University, then went into teaching at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels in New Jersey before moving to Arizona, where I taught 7-12 Art in the east valley. I've been at Perry since 2017. This is my 16th year teaching Visual and Fine Arts.

My Educational Philosophy

It is my goal as an art teacher to teach students about the many aspects of what art truly is. Art is not only the production of a work, it is understanding why we feel the need to make it, why others before us needed to create it, what techniques we used to construct it, and why it pleases our eyes after we have finished it. Students should be able to practice art in the following ways: production, fundamentals, aesthetics, critiquing, observing & studying cultures and the history of art. I believe every student has the ability to be creative, and I will you help foster that creativity. Even if you don't think you are artistic, you will be amazed at what you can learn, develop and create throughout the course of this class.
