ASSE was established in 1976 as the American Scandinavian Student Exchange by the Swedish Government to organize student exchange programs between Sweden and the United States. Soon Denmark, Norway and Finland elected to participate. At present, ASSE works closely with the Canadian provincial ministries of education. It maintains 38 offices in 31 countries and accommodates more than 30,000 high school age students and host families annually in its programs in the participating countries.  ASSE's mission is to foster international understanding through educational and cross cultural programs. ASU Study Abroad: The benefits of studying abroad are endless and only enrich your experience as a Sun Devil. Stand out from the crowd once you graduate by adding study abroad to your resume and demonstrate you can thrive in a global environment.  Participate in one of our 250 programs in over 65 different countries that are as short as a week and as long as a year (and anything in between). There's a program that will fit with your degree plan and goals that'll even keep you on track for graduation, too.  Study abroad isn't just for foreign language or global studies majors -- it's for everyone from any background and on any academic or career path. Why Study Abroad?

CGCC: Study abroad can be a powerful education tool. Research shows these experiences continue to impact students' lives for years. Just as international students in the United States will some day be in positions of world leadership, so will U.S. domestic students. Maricopa College's study abroad programs prepare American students to be confident communicators with people from other cultures in other countries and continue to serve as goodwill ambassadors.

GCU Study Abroad:  Immerse yourself in another culture by participating in a study abroad program during your time at Grand Canyon University (GCU). During a traditional study abroad or missions abroad program, you spend a semester at an approved international university, attending classes while learning about another culture. Broaden your horizons, experience the excitement of living in another country and make friendships that you will cherish for a lifetime. Learn more about your opportunities to study abroad by contacting us at 855-GCU-LOPE.

National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y):  NSLI-Y is part of a U.S. government initiative that prepares American citizens to be leaders in a global world. NSLI-Y aims to provide opportunities to American youths that will spark a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures.

NAU Study Abroad: Hundreds of thousands of students from US universities choose to study abroad every year!  Think about the following: Study abroad is an opportunity to see the world and discover different cultures.  You'll remember this adventure for the rest of your life.  Going abroad is affordable! It can cost the same as staying at NAU, you can use financial aid, and we have a ton of scholarships! Study abroad can provide a richer understanding of your major.  Classes taken abroad can count towards your graduation requirements! Check out available Study Abroad Scholarships!

UA Global Initiatives:  Be Anywhere, Learn Everywhere. With hundreds of programs around the world during the semester, year, summer, and winter, there is a program for every student. Stop in for a Study Abroad Information Session to learn more!

US Department of State | Exchange Programs:  Less than 10% of U.S. students study abroad, and very few of these students are in high school. Yet, studying abroad early builds global competencies such as language and cross-cultural skills, maturity, and clarity about one's post-secondary education and career.  The Youth Leadership Program fosters mutual understanding, respect, and civic engagement among young Americans and their international peers. During the exchanges, students and educators participate in workshops, community service activities, team building exercises, meetings with community leaders, leadership development, and live with local host families. Upon their return home, the students apply what they have learned to implement projects that serve needs in their communities.
