Welcome!
Hello! I am so honored to be a part amazing team of teachers, administrators, and staff here at Casteel. I found my passion for Special Education while working as a Para Educator and find it a gift to teach young minds. I live in Gilbert with my husband Matt and 3 daughters, Eliza, Jane and Lucy (who are also Casteel Colts). I have lived in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, California, Idaho, Utah, South Carolina, and Brazil and have been in the state we call home – Arizona – since 2004.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Journalism, emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Portuguese from Utah State University in 1999. I worked in corporate communications and media relations. After starting a family, I decided to go back to work in a field that brought me joy. It’s when I started substitute teaching and received an assignment in a Special Education classroom that I knew I had found my career. I am currently working towards my master’s degree in Mild/Moderate Special Education.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every child has the ability to progress. I believe that when a child feels safe, secure, and cared for the environment is right for intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. And, I believe that every child need’s someone who believes in them, a cheerleader, someone who sees their uniqueness and wants to help them become all that they can. I believe every day I can make a difference for good in someone’s life.
