Ms. Lerina Johnson

Hello Puma Nation-

I have been a proud Puma since we opened Perry in 2007.  I taught in the Mesa School District (JR. High/High School), before joining the Chandler School District at Basha High School in 2005.  The 2016-17 school year marks the beginning of my 23rd year as a Physical Education teacher.

I grew up in South Phoenix, went to West High School, and graduated with my BAE from Arizona State University.  I continued my education and earned my Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University.
I have 3 children who keep me on my toes, enjoy being active, and give each day something new to laugh at, enjoy, be proud of and to remember.

I have been active and in music or sport for most of my life.  I love to be social, play and challenge myself and others.  For those reasons, I pursued a career in teaching physical education.  I like to think I teach with the same energy and enthusiasm today as I did twenty years ago when I first started.  I sure can't demonstrate hurdles and high jump like I did then, but I still try!

I currently teach Physical Education and am the Varsity/JV Badminton Coach.
I am available before and most of the time after school. During my badminton season (Aug.-Oct.), I am only available in the morning.  I do check email several times daily, and that is the preferred method of contact, with the quickest response time.

I truly look forward to having your daughter in my class and sharing my knowledge of sport, health, team work, nutrition and having fun while doing so.  I will do my best to help make her years at Perry - ones to remember.
