Perry High School opened its doors in the fall of 2007 to local freshmen and sophomores. That school year the baseball program consisted of a junior varsity and freshman team which competed in class 4A division II. Under the guidance of head coach Shane Hilstrom, the program completed its first season with the JV (13-3) and FROSH (15-2) each posting winning records.

In 2009, Hilstrom and the inaugural varsity club competed in the East Sky Region - a very fierce region that saw three of its teams reach the state tournament. The inaugural Pumas were a competitive group, and battled their way past 4A division-I and II teams en route to a 10-14 overall record.
