Rules:
1. Come to class! This is a visual language. You need to be here to learn it. Chronic absences will have a negative effect on your grades.
2. Be prepared. If you do not know your vocabulary or you have an assignment to practice and you are not ready, you cannot participate and you make it difficult for your partner to participate. Know your vocabulary!
3. Be nice to each other. I am the only sign language teacher here, so we will spend two years together. We become a family of sorts -- treat each other well.
4. Show integrity -- don't cheat. If I catch you, I will fail you on the assignment--no second chances on this one.
5. This is a no-cell phone class. Students will leave their phones in a pocket chart on the wall during each class.
Consequences:
I believe that students at this age need to work with the teacher to fix problems in the classroom. I contact parents only after I have attempted several times to fix the situation with the student.
1. I will discuss the problem in private with the student.
2. I will contact the student's counselor and ask for help with the situation.
3. I will call home and discuss the problem with the parents.
